 What is Tampa Bay YouthBuild?

Tampa Bay YouthBuild is a 9-month program designed to assist you in completing your high school education, receiving hands-on construction training and learning life skills necessary to become a successful member of society.

Mission:

The mission of YouthBuild  is to unleash the intelligence and positive energy of low-income young people to rebuild their communities and their lives.

Program Details

Are there Eligibility Requirements?

Yes, there are a few eligibility requirements for the Tampa Bay YouthBuild Program.

  1. You’re between the ages of 17 to 24 years old.
  2. You’re a Pinellas County resident.
  3. You’re not currently enrolled in high school
  4. You’re willing to commit to a drug free lifestyle.
  5. You meet low-income or other YouthBuild Barrier requirements.
What are YouthBuild Barriers?

YouthBuild Barriers are life events or circumstances that may limit your success in today’s society. These include:

  • Having a documented disability
  • Having a criminal history or working with Department of Juvenile Justice
  • Having a parent who is or has been incarcerated
  • Having a parent who is a Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker
  • Living in a household that receives welfare (TANF), Supplemental Security Income benefits (SSI) and/or food assistance benefits (SNAP) now or in the last 6 months
  • Being in foster care aging out of foster care and receiving federal assistance
  • Living in a low-income household (based on family size, as seen in the table below)

If any of these apply to you, you’ll qualify for the program, which is, of course, a judgement-free zone designed to help you put your past behind you and prepare for a successful future.

When do classes start?

Program orientation, also known as Mental Toughness, is scheduled to begin on
Monday, August 5th, 2019.

How do I apply?

You can apply online by following the steps below, or you can email Ms. Teresa, the Tampa Bay YouthBuild Program Coordinator, for an application.

To begin your online YouthBuild registration, please review the steps below.

Please start by clicking on the ACCOUNT link in the top right-hand corner of your page and choose LOGIN or REGISTER.

For a New CareerSource Pinellas user:

  • If you have never used the CareerSource Pinellas website, then you will first need to create a user account. To do so, complete a simple registration and click save. Please ensure to provide an email address as the website is in interactive.
  • Your user name and password will be provided to you, but for future reference, it will be your last name (UserID) and social security number (password)
  • Once you complete your user account set up, you will be taken to your CareerSource Pinellas dashboard and in the bottom left green box labeled ENROLLMENT, please click the YOUTHBUILD Registration link to get started.
  • Begin now by clicking on the ACCOUNT link in top right corner of your screen.

For a Returning CareerSource Pinellas user:

  • If you are a returning customer and have previously used CareerSource Pinellas services, please click on the ACCOUNT link and choose the LOG IN link in the top right corner of your screen.
  • Remember your log in credentials are your last name (UserID) and social security number (password)
  • Once logged in, you will be taken to your CareerSource dashboard and in the bottom left green box labeled ENROLLMENT, please click the YOUTHBUILD Registration link to get started.
  • Begin now by clicking on the ACCOUNT link in top right corner of your screen.
